Recently, I've wondered what image does the outside world hold of women who live on real, true to life, working ranches?
Posh? Pampered? Spoiled? Beautiful? Clean? Perfect Children?
I may think I have perfect children and live on a beautiful farm and ranch, but the rest is just a myth!
The other day, while at my mother-in-law's, I read an article in a magazine about a fellow blogger whose blog I love to follow. However, I realized there might be a few discrepancies in the eyes of blog readers who may think all ranch wives live in lavish homes with corresponding guest homes. Ladies...We do not. At least...I don't!
Last week, we went to 'Cow Camp' with the whole crew. Family, friends and neighbors.
To prepare for this week of cattle gathering, horse riding, s'more consumption, dutch oven eating fun, we made sure the boys gathered wood in the back of Grandpa's truck. Grandpa Clark was the driver and most likely the worker...But the boys are so cute tryin'!
The men had spend the last week preparing for the trip with our 'lavish' vintage camp trailers and all,so they enjoyed a well deserved 'visit' with each other.
Thanks to the men, we also had the 'best of the best' in camp lighting. Light bulbs hanging from a rigged cord.
The younger men pondered over their lives and the possibility of living a lavish rancher's life.
The teenage boys refused to pose for the camera and missed their 'girlie-friends' dearly.
The teenage gals were happy and content; No worries over hair and makeup made their lives simpler.
Mine too. And, quality time spent with family was worth every second of the dust and campfire aroma.
The kids were even happy to see us coming!
Another view of our lavish accommodations. I must say, maybe I am spoiled to live in such a beautiful part of the country with such a neat family.
Grandma Colleen made bows for each of the boys.
They broke them and brought them back to her for repair.
Our new gal, Jackie, did well for herself.
The little ones are growing up and turning into good help!
They're starting to fit in with the 'big' boys.
The little ones still lose their shoes!
And have a blast losing them!
But find them just in time to catch the train out of town.
I had some quality time with Russ...If you count following him through the brush as quality time.
And when the week was finally over, we packed our bags, loaded the trailers and headed for home and a hot bath.
Bye, Bye Lavish Accommodations! Until next time!
Maybe this is a spoiled life I live?
I just love you Lisa! You know how to say the right things for everything!! :)
